Meet our New Board Members
The Swiss Canadian Chamber of Commerce (Ontario) Inc. is thankful to all its dedicated Board Members and excited to welcome the following new board members:
Oliver Weibel
I'm Oliver, an explorer and adventure enthusiast. When I'm not busy selling Switzerland I am looking to find the hidden gems of the world myself. I love travelling and have been living in different areas of the world already.
My background is hospitality, and amidst the breathtaking beauty of Graubünden, lies my very own secret spot—the Hotel Heimeli in Sapün. This place is so off the beaten track and secluded that even GPS devices struggle to find it. It's like a hidden oasis tucked away from the world, where tranquility reigns supreme. Nice food, friendly people – great to hike up in summer and in winter – but in winter going down with the toboggan by full moon = priceless.
But here's the funny part—I haven't quite found my secret spot in Toronto just yet. It seems that the city is playing a game of hide and seek with me. However, with the help of wonderful folks like yourself, I'm confident that we'll uncover that elusive spot in the near future.
Oliver is the new Director of Switzerland Tourism in Canada and will join the sub-committee of Membership.
XinYue Zhang
I'm drawn to the Swiss Canadian Chamber of Commerce due to my deeply-rooted appreciation for Switzerland and its people. During my time studying Tourism Management at the Swiss Hotel Management School in Switzerland 20 years ago, I was touched by the warm and welcoming nature of the Swiss people. This experience has instilled in me a lasting desire to forge connections and contribute to the Swiss community. Joining the Swiss Canadian Chamber of Commerce provides me with a platform to nurture these connections, foster meaningful relationships, and give back to the Swiss community in a mutually beneficial way. I am eager to engage with fellow professionals, share insights, and collaborate on initiatives that promote the rich cultural exchange between Switzerland and Canada.
Xinyue with her extensive experience in digital marketing, trade marketing, and business development, currently as the Senior Manager for De’Longhi Group in North America, will be joining our communication / Digital Media sub-committee.
Andrea Nizzola
Born in Geneva and raised in Gland, I am a French-speaking Swiss but also speak Peruvian and Spanish. As a graduate from Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) I worked in Hotels in Montreux, Dubai, Vancouver and since a few years in Toronto. Most recently as the Hotel Manager Operations for the exciting new 1 Hotel brand in Toronto.
A fun fact about me? You might spot me wine tasting in Niagara-on-the-lake as I find this town gorgeous. In Switzerland, not to mention wines again, you will find me hitting my favourite spots for delicious meals where I grew up (Vaud) in between “Filets de Perches” at La plage de Gland, “Malakoffs” in Luins, Roast chicken in Dully or Chocolate “Chez Tristan” in Perroy.
Something you don’t know about me? I used to be sponsored by a Swiss skateboarding brand when I was 18 years old!
Andrea will join the events sub-committee to help organize events for our SCCC members.
