President's Message

(Julien Favre)
Dear Readers,

On November 19th, the SCCC held our 2016 Gala Dinner Dance at the elegant King Edward Hotel in Toronto, where members and non-members dressed in their best enjoyed a classy evening. This event has been a very long tradition of our Chamber and it is wonderful to see the continued and even increased interest (in excess of 130 guests) this evening has. Please read more on page 22.

At the time of writing this message, Switzerland is bringing together leaders from all areas and sectors of the world at the World Economic Forum in Davos. It is quite remarkable how this tiny Alpine resort in a tiny country can bring so many world leaders together (including the President of China) to debate and discuss world issues and opportunities. 2017 will surely bring its load of new leadership at the political level in several important economies in the world. However, leaders don’t need a title or a corner office, but the capability of inspiring others. The current edition of info suisse covers the theme of leadership touching on various angles including tips; humanitarian leadership experiences from the President of the Red Cross; and European Leadership at CERN, a cooperation of 21 member countries with Switzerland being at the centre. I hope you will enjoy reading these interesting articles on leadership.

With this current winter-edition of info suisse, a long tradition will come to its end for our Toronto SCCC members. I would like to bring to your attention that this is the last time we are producing a printed edition of info suisse for the Toronto SCCC. After long discussions on the board of the SCCC we decided to transition from the printed magazine to an electronic newsletter providing you with similar type of content directly to your computer or ipad. This allows us to reach more readers, be more flexible with content and keep building a content library on our website www.swissbiz.ca. In addition, this will provide excellent and new exposure to our valued advertisers. This change does not affect Montreal’s CCCS members. Thank you all for your support over the years by advertising, contributing to columns or articles and for reading info Suisse regularly.

I look forward to seeing you at our next event – the Fondue night – on February 1st and throughout the year.

Yours sincerely,

Julien Favre
President, SCCC
