Switzerland recorded another record year from the Canadian market in 2025, with hotel overnight stays increasing by 8.9% to more than 362,000. Canadian arrivals also rose by close to 10%, making Canada one of the strongest growing long haul markets for Swiss tourism.
The growth comes as more Canadians continue to seek premium, safe, and experience driven destinations in Europe. Switzerland particularly benefited from strong demand in ski holidays, luxury travel, scenic rail journeys, and river cruises. Regions such as Graubünden, Valais, and the Lucerne area saw especially strong growth throughout the year.
Air connectivity also expanded significantly in 2025, including the launch of Edelweiss’ new direct Halifax to Zurich route, creating the first ever direct connection between Atlantic Canada and Switzerland.
