New test and entry requirements for travelers from North America
The Federal Council of Switzerland amended the entry and test regulations for Switzerland. With effect from January 22nd, 2022, the following entry and testing requirements apply for travelers entering Switzerland from Canada:
- Fully vaccinated* and recovered visitors from Canada. (No pre-arrival test needed)
- Travelers must complete, no earlier than 48 hours before departure, the online form of the Federal Office of Public Health FOPH.
Swiss COVID certificate:
The Swiss Federal council requires all people vaccinated outside of the EU (including tourists from the U.S. and Canada) to apply for the Swiss vaccination certificate in order to enter indoor venues in Switzerland.
Important: The Federal Council is shortening the validity period of all vaccination certificates from 365 to 270 days from January 31st, 2022. This ensures that the Swiss certificate continues to be recognized in the EU. Certificates issued as proof of recovery from COVID-19 will also only be valid for 270 days. To add your booster shot to your already existing Swiss COVID certificate, please note that you have to re-apply for a new certificate.
Should your clients already possess an EU COVID certificate issued by an EU country this will also be accepted in Switzerland and there is no need to apply for the Swiss COVID certificate.
